Fall 2024 Hike Dates
Thursday, October 17th @ 1:00pm - Macaulay Mountain Conservation Area - We will meet at the Macaulay Heritage Park Museum parking lot, 35 Church Street, Picton. The hike will take us into the park and then we will take a parallel angled trail up to the ridge and then work our way back via Bird House City to the parking lot.
Thursday, November 7th @ 1:00 pm - Vanderwater Conservation Area, 512 Vanderwater Road, Thomasburg, Ontario . (use your car GPS to direct you to the parking lot. This Conservation area is located about 30 minutes north of Belleville and is one of my favorite walks.
We depart from the Conservation Parking Lot at 1:00pm.*****PLEASE NOTE you need to purchase a $5.00 park pass from Quinte Conservation by calling or with their phone App. PLEASE DO NOT purchase the pass until the day prior in case we are rained out****and need to cancel.
This walk will be 3+ hours and include a wonderful forest with the beginning of Fall colors, 2 short medium size hills, some nice look outs, a couple covered rest stops with seating, and then ending with a walk along the Moira River. Once again the forest trails have some uneven/rocky sections. I suggest walking poles, hiking shoes/boots, and please bring your snack and a drink.
Thursday, November 21st @ 1:00 pm- Sandbanks Provincial Park - We will meet at the Lakeshore Lodge parking lot of Sandbanks Park and walk the wooded trail along the shore. We then continue along an inland trail to complete the circle trail. Dress warm as the wind on the beach can be cold but the views are always worth the effort. Hiking poles and a day pack with snacks, water and extra clothing is recommended. ( +/- 2.5 hours)
