History Nights @ St. Andrews Picton
with Peter Lockyer.

“Heritage isn’t free. It has come at an enormous cost to the generations who have come before us.”

Peter Lockyer. Founder, History Lives Here Inc.

Peter Lockyer has travelled extensively as a journalist, working across Canada and internationally in Costa Rica, Columbia, China, Ghana, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam. His interest in local history was developed when he wrote his master’s thesis (Master of Journalism graduate Carlton University 1986) on the canning industry in Prince Edward County, once the capital of the industry in Canada. The rise and fall of this industry—and its impact on the community—created his enduring interest in local history.

Peter is a well-known local journalist and historian who has delighted Prince Edward County with his inspiring and fascinating talks.

From September 2024 to January 2025, he will present five history talks at St. Andrews. They will include Peter’s presentation, a slide show of pictures and video clips, and he will show one of his documentaries for some of the events. There will be a Q&A at the end.

Tickets are $30 for each event. You can purchase them ahead of time, by sending an etransfer to standrewspicton@gmail.com or pay cash at the door.
